Title: Cost Accountant
Pay Range: Open – Negotiable
Performs professional accounting services by maintaining books of account; accumulating cost or other similar data; preparing complex reports and statements; and maintaining the accounting system by interpreting, supplementing, and effecting revisions to the system, as necessary.
The Cost Accountant reports directly to the Division Controller.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides general and cost accounting functions as needed.
Designated backup for the Controller and must have the knowledge and skills to perform those duties.
Responsible for all cost accounting functions, various monthly financial reports and statements.
Acquisition and disposal of all fixed assets, along with the month-end reporting for capital expenditures.
Conducts various project cost studies and analysis, including profitability of individual contracts.
Assists in the preparation, consolidation, and review of budgets and forecasts.
Develops cash flow forecasts.
Conducts the monthly milestone billing meetings and assists in the preparation of invoices.
Prepares various financial reports for government contracts.
Interact with auditors, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and various customers.
Assists in the prospective Rate Development.
Responsible for Enterprise Revenue roll-up, CapEx projects, and departmental budges.
Responsible for creating the Annual Operating Plan.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Extensive knowledge of accounting theory and practices required.
Ability to analyze and interpret fiscal and accounting records and to prepare accurate and complete financial statements from such records.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, auditors and management is essential.
Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Cost Accounting Standards.
Completion of four years of college level coursework with major emphasis in accounting and some accounting experience or any combination of experience and training, which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
