Title: Marine Change Order Estimator

Location:  Mississippi

Pay Range: Open – Negotiable

 

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

Manages the analysis of change order bids and completes estimates for assigned projects, creating detailed cost estimates for ship repair and other marine projects.

Prepares estimates for change orders on new and existing projects.

Completes proposals, submittals, estimates and bid summary sheets.

Identifies and communicates all special requirements on estimates.

Identifies and resolves ambiguities in specifications or bid packages.

Coordinates projects, communicates changes and progress, and completes projects on time and within budget.

Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation.

Monitors and reports on activities and provide relevant management information to departmental and company leadership.

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

 

Strong knowledge and experience in marine design and engineering.

Knowledge of materials used in marine construction.

Excellent communication skills with clients and able to communicate well on technical subjects. Excellent negotiation and communication skills with domestic and international clientele.

General knowledge of a wide range of commercial, government and military marine vessels.

Ability to develop detailed specifications and estimates for marine projects.

Understanding of marine classification society rules, U.S. Coast Guard, and regulatory requirements. Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.

Possesses conflict resolution skills and maintain confidentiality.

Able to read and comprehend ship blueprints.

Must be able to maintain positive employee relations.

Must be a highly organized person who can monitor numerous projects at once and can prioritize the workloads of reporting employees.

Effective time management skills are a must.

Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

Bachelor’s degree in a suitable field and a minimum of five years of marine and engineering experience.

Or an associate’s degree with at least 10 years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.

Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
