Title: Material Control Analyst

Location: Mississippi

Pay Range: Open – Negotiable






Prepares, issues and controls production schedule and coordinates the material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.

Works with other teams and managers to determine expected production runs within the manufacturing or data information process.

Monitors the production process as it happens, documenting all unexpected slowdowns and working proactively to identify new bottlenecks.

Scopes work packages/work orders, maintains routings of steel and warehouse materials, and monitors process lead time to support the master schedule.

Frequently uses knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards.

Works under the general direction of Material Control Manager in production control.

Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability and potential production problems to ensure that personal, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.

Confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.

Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, etc.

Expedites and schedules the movement of parts by means of pick list, move orders, transfers and request for shipping.

Recommends methods of improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials.

Studies sequence of operations to be performed and flow of business materials. Supplies department leaders with production information and analysis data as requested.

Ensures all EVMS budgeting and variance rules are being adhered to.

Ensures that proper quality assurance is provided for any products or data produced by the company as well.

Coordinates with crafts based on schedule and production needs to review work orders, verifies material status and reconciles obstacles that may delay progress.

Determines which work orders to release, requests material from warehouse and notifies craft when material is received at staging areas.

Maintains status of all work orders in progress to establish earliest completion dates and reasons for schedule delays due to material shortages, craft incompletion, quality assurance holds, warehouse inefficiencies and engineering revisions.

Schedules and coordinates return of material back to warehouse when needed.







Excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills and computer literacy.

Represents organization on specific projects.

Strong analytical skills to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of production control and inventory control in a material requirement planning environment.

Ability to enter, maintain and generate accurate data and reports.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Knowledge in creating and manipulating spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.







College degree preferred.

High school education or equivalent supplemented by course work or technical training in production management acceptable.

Experience with MRP software is required.

Professional level experience in scheduling, production planning, or any combination of experience and training that results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
