Title: Pipe/Mechanical Designer

Location: Virginia

Pay Range: Open – Negotiable

 

 

 

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provide design and engineering support of systems.

Develop from cradle to grave engineering drawings using AUTOCAD.

Drawing must be technically complete and accurate and should be ready for issue with a minimum of Government review.

All drawings shall conform and/or incorporate the IDEA CAD Manual, ISID, GSO, NSTM, SCD, weight and moment calculations, shock requirements, safety, and environmental considerations.

All technical interfaces including system or component testing requirements.

 

 

 

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

 

For the Senior Designer position a minimum 9 years of Naval progressive design experience in the last five (5) years involving design and working plan development for construction, conversion, modernization or alteration of U.S. Naval Ships for Non-Propulsion Piping Systems for LHD and CVN 68 class ships.
For the Mid-Level Designer position a minimum 7 years of Naval progressive design experience in the last five (5) years involving design and working plan development for construction, conversion, modernization or alteration of U.S. Naval Ships for Non-Propulsion Piping Systems for LHD and CVN 68 class ships.
Familiarity with NNSY Code 262 systems experience and knowledge Sea water (fire main backup & dedicated service to Air Conditioning plants): Chilled water systems, Electronic cooling water Systems, Plumbing drains and vents (grey water and soil) systems, Collection Holding and Transfer systems (CHT), Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning systems (HVAC) and Compartment Deck Drains.
Familiarity with NNSY Code 267 systems experience and knowledge in Firefighting Systems (Sea Water, AFFF, CO2, and Halon), Compressed Air Systems (Low, Medium, and High Pressure), Bilge Stripping Systems, JP-5 Systems, Tank Overflows, Air Escapes and Sounding Tubes, Pulpers and Shredders, Countermeasure Washdown System,  Magazine Sprinkling Systems, Fresh Water Systems, Potable Water Systems, Main Drainage and Ballasting Systems, Fuel Oil Fill and Transfer Systems, Oxygen-Nitrogen (O2N2) Systems, Service Steam Systems, Weather Deck Drains, and Oily Water Separator.

 

 

 

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

 

High School, Trade, Industrial or correspondence school.

Graduate Credits received in Algebra, Plane Geometry, Trigonometry, Drafting and Physics.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Current Confidential security clearance (within last 2 years).
