Title: Senior Naval Architect
Pay Range: Open – Negotiable
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates at a senior level, designing and providing production support for a variety of commercial, government and military vessels.
Responsible for naval architecture work in a shipyard setting and floating dry dock setting requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of design and analyses of ship hull, foundation, superstructure, arrangements and hull form characteristics tasks.
Works directly with senior technical personnel and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on complex projects related to system and technical product development.
Employs existing guidelines and instructions, guidance from higher-level engineers, experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
Directs and oversees the day-to-day activities of a naval architect, structural engineer and designer.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture plus seven years of experience as a naval architect.
Must have work experience in each of the following: Designing commercial and government vessels (including ATB tankers, research vessels and offshore supply vessels).
Designing military vessels (including Fast Missile Craft and T-AGS research vessels); GHS to address ship stability and weight control issues; shipbuilding design and production support in a shipyard; and stability and blocking calculations used for floating and dry-docking.
